The following passage was submitted by the family of a CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center patient.
“Sheila was my grandfather’s nurse during his stay at CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. She provided the best care and made sure my grandfather and I were both comfortable. Sheila was open and supportive during our conversations about my education and career path. Sheila was comforting and always on top our needs. Talkative and friendly, she always kept a positive energy about her job and the patients she cared for. Despite her little knowledge of the Spanish language, Sheila did her best to communicate with my grandfather and my mother in our language. I have a great appreciation for nurses like Sheila. I will always remember just how caring and supportive she was until the end. Sheila was very outgoing and full of support, helping us keep a positive mindset during a difficult time for our family.”
Sheila displayed an elevated standard of care and CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center is proud to recognize Sheila as an invaluable part of our team. Thank you to Sheila for playing a crucial role in being the difference for our community.
Established in 1999 in the memory of J. Patrick Barnes, the DAISY Award was created to recognize and honor nurses who go above and beyond for their patients. This international recognition gives praise to the nurses who stick close by their patients and their families to guide them through tough times. Through exemplary standards of care, these nurses heal not only their patients, but their families too.
