Joung H. Lee, MD, is an internationally renowned authority in the field of skull base surgery. Dr. Lee served as the Professor and Founding Director of the esteemed Cleveland Clinic Skull Base Surgery Center where he established one of the largest skull base surgery programs in the world.

A noted leader in the treatment of meningioma, Dr. Lee has treated more than 200 new meningioma patients annually and presided over more than 1,200 cases. His extensive experience also includes performing more than 4,000 complex cranial operations.

Throughout his tenure at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Lee trained research and clinical fellows in skull base surgery as well as neurosurgery residents. He pioneered many innovative complex cranial surgical techniques, which are now used by neurosurgeons worldwide.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Lee has been recognized as the leading authority on skull base surgery, meningiomas, and schwannomas as well as Arnold-Chiari malformation, trigeminal neuralgia, and hemifacial spasm.

Dr. Lee received his medical degree from USC and completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Virginia. He is a former president of the Ohio State Neurosurgical Society and has been an honored guest speaker at many surgical societies and conferences around the world, including Korea, Japan, Mexico, China and Brazil. Dr. Lee has also served as a visiting professor at more than 20 international and domestic institutions. He has published two books and authored more than 100 scientific articles and book chapters.
