Dr. William T. Long

William T. Long, M.D. was born in Los Angeles where he was a standout athlete at Serra High School in Gardena. It was there that he decided that he could best use his talents helping others as a physician. Dr. Long was awarded the Regent’s Scholarship to attend University of California, San Diego Medical School. He returned to Los Angeles to complete his orthopaedic training at The Kerlan Jobe Clinic and The University of Southern California.

Dr. Long is a world leader in the use of computers and robotic technology during hip and knee replacement surgery. He was the first surgeon to perform robot assisted partial knee replacement in Los Angeles. Since 2005 he has performed computer assisted hip and knee replacement operations. Dr. Long believes that all surgeons and their patients could benefit from using this technology.

During time away from orthopaedics Dr. Long enjoys coaching youth sprinters and jumpers and competing as a long jumper in Master’s Track and Field competition. As part of Operation Walk, Dr. Long continues to perform free hip and knee replacement operations around the world.
