Surgery Department Phone: (213) 413-3000 (ask the operator for Surgery) Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center is affiliated with the Doheny Eye Institute and University of Southern California (USC). Specialists, including Lawrence P. Chong, M.D., perform high-tech retina surgeries with 25 gauge lasers. Dr. Chong earned his medical degree from Harvard University. He then completed a residency at Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, and a retina-vitreous fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center. Dr. Chong returned to the Doheny Eye Institute as chief resident before joining the faculty. He is a key component of Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center's ability to perform challenging retina surgeries. Dr. Chong's research interests include AIDS retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal pigment epithelial selective lasers and dye enhanced laser treatment of ocular tumors. In addition to performing surgery at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Dr. Chong serves as Chief of the Retina Service at the Doheny Eye Institute and Professor of Ophthalmology at the USC Keck School of Medicine.
