Lab & Pathology Location: Doctor Tower, A Level

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center maintains a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art Clinical Laboratory and Pathology department dedicated to meeting the varied diagnostic needs of its patients. Accredited by the Joint Commission and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the department has the expertise to provide scientific analysis of specimen, conduct research, and perform a full range of inpatient and outpatient testing services.

Within the department, a team of highly skilled pathologists, clinical scientists, cytologists, histologists and phlebotomists work together to expertly manage all aspects of anatomic and clinical pathology. Rigorous performance standards and a commitment to quality ensure we meet the individual lab and study-related needs of our physicians and patients.

From evaluating blood, fluids, tissue biopsies and surgical resections to performing tests related to hematology, immunology and microbiology, we play an integral role in the hospital’s delivery of quality care.

Following is a comprehensive list of services we provide:

Clinical Services

• Hematology/Coagulation
• Serology/Urinalysis
• Microbiology
• Transfusion Services
• Routine Chemistries, therapeutic drug monitoring, limited esoteric testing
• Reference laboratories

Surgical Pathology

• Visual (“gross”) examination
• Microscopic examination (which may include special chemical stains)

Cytology

• SurePath PAP smear
• Conventional PAP smear
• Fine Needle aspiration Biopsies
• Urine Cytology
• Histology service

Physician order is required for all inpatient and outpatient testing and specimen analysis. In addition, outpatient tests must be scheduled in advance. Please speak with your physician about outpatient testing at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.
